- Comfortable clothes (Some classes will require movement, and even if you are not learning how to Salsa, you still want to be comfy.)
- Closed-toe shoes (Flip-flops or sandals will be fine most of the time, but there will be classes held in the scene shop that may require closed-toe shoes)
- Your favorite show/drama club shirt (We invite you to wear it on Sunday! This is a great opportunity to share show ideas!!)
- Toiletries (It will be July in San Antonio…enough said!)
- Swimsuit (This could be vital in the case of an impromptu river float or an inviting hotel pool.)
- Business cards (This sure makes it easier to share information and network with new contacts. If you don’t already have cards, there are several sites online where you can have them printed inexpensively or possibly even for free.)
- A camera (Not only is there a workshop on photography for the stage that asks you to bring your digital camera, but you will also be glad that you had it along to capture the wonderful memories of this magical weekend.)
- Jump drive/ flash drive (Having one with you sure makes sharing files and lessons a breeze.)
- Lap top (There are only 9 computer stations in the lab this year, plus it is always good for taking notes or jotting down project ideas.)
- Speaking of electronics, bring your iPad, Kindle, Smartphone, etc. so that you may take advantage of the electronic Guidebook & Twitter. (Don’t worry! Darve will be doing a quick demo on day 1 to help everyone get set up & ready to use these great tools.)
- Hopefully you have pre-registered, but if you haven’t, don’t despair! You can still register on-site, but remember to bring cash for the on-site registration fee!
- Oh, one last thing, bring a friend or colleague! (SummerFest is a gem with which many are unfamiliar, so this is your chance to share this awesome experience with someone new.)
We are going to have a wonderful time at San Antonio College!! I am looking forward to seeing old friends, to meeting and making new ones, and to attending fantastic workshops that will hone and polish my craft and invigorate my teaching. Remember, “We are the Core!”, and we owe it to ourselves and to our students to “Be all we can be!”
