TETA Board of Advisors
Communications Chair

With the recent changes in personnel I thought it might be nice to introduce some of the new faces to you. I asked our new board members and committee members to send me a headshot and a short bio that I could share with our membership. I then realized that we have quite a few new TETA members who may not even be familiar with the faces that have been around for a while so I decided to do a TTN article that is basically a who's-who of TETA. If I included every board member and committee member in one article it would be very long so I will make this a recurring article and introduce a few faces each time. In this article I chose to include:
Terri Castleberry
TETA Board of Advisors
CAPS Chair
Dr. Terri L. Castleberry has been in education since 1977
when she began her teaching career at Perryton High School. She taught theatre
for twenty-two years and thirteen of those were spent as Theatre Director at
Abilene High School. In 2002, she received her Doctorate in Education from
Oklahoma State University. Even though,
she received her Ed.D in education, she was still thinking of theatre as her
dissertation was entitled, “Staging Character Education: Investigating the
Possible Link Between the Theatre Arts Curriculum and Character Education”. She
learned a great deal studying five high school theatre programs across the
state of Texas, which only confirmed her believe, that children need to belong
to a supportive and caring community and educational theatre meets this need
for many children. As an advocate for educational theatre, she is a member of
the Adjudicators Organization. She retired from public education in 2010 after
serving as Director of Curriculum for Waco ISD and now teaches graduate courses
in education for Concordia University.

Mike is a past TETA Communications Committee Chair and was a 2010 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award winter. Mike is Theatre Arts Director, Fine Arts Chair and District Webmaster at Industrial ISD in Vanderbilt where he led his students to the Texas UIL state OAP finals three times, garnering one recipient of the Samuel French Award. His degrees include a BFA in Theatre and Theatre Education from Texas State University, and an MA in Directing from Baylor University.
Middle School Interest Chair
Laura Alexander-Wilson serves the Texas Educational Theater Association as the Middle School Interest chair for the K-12 Committee. After graduating from Texas State, she moved to Houston and began teaching in Humble ISD. Laura currently teaches at Aragon Middle School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and will be completing her eleventh year in education. She has directed more than 40 plays for middle school and participates in two speech tournaments a year with a troupe of over 230 students. Laura could not be more excited to provide support and encouragement for all middle school theatre teachers. She looks forward to give her time to an organization that has given so much to theatre students and educators.
