With the new school year, the BoD and our illustrious convention directors, Missey Head and Jerry Ivins, hit the ground running with the planning and organizing for TheatreFest ’16!!!! This year’s TheatreFest, “Dream Big! Make Magic! Make a Difference!” will be held January 28 – 31 at the Dallas Hyatt Regency. So make plans to join us for another exciting conference!
In the ensuing weeks, you will be receiving announcement after announcement about all of the exciting events and workshops that are planned. Watch for deadlines that will entail information about DesignFest, PlayFest, Auditions and much more!
By now, many of you should have received notice that your membership is due. Do you know someone who has proved themselves worthy in the classroom or far and beyond in the giving of themselves to their students or our organization? Nominate that person you think deserving of being recognized as one of our Educators of the Year, for a Founders’ Award or as an Emeritus Recipient. The nomination process is now done completely online! The nominator needs to click on the Awards and Scholarships tab on our website to find all the information needed. The link to the nomination form will be the very first thing you’ll see. The nominator will be responsible for securing all letters of support as required and submitting them via the online form. THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IS OCTOBER 1st. Information regarding student auditions will soon be posted. Our new Auditions coordinator, Jacob Davis of Tyler Junior College, is busily making preparations for this annual event. We will let you know when we are ready to begin accepting applications.
With that being said, the Board wishes to express their most sincere gratitude and thanks to Dusty Davidson, who for many years coordinated our auditions. We are truly thankful to him for his invaluable knowledge and sacrifice for the past few years. He has been a tremendous supporter of our organization and most gracious in sharing his wisdom as we transgress into our new era of Jacob’s leadership. THANK YOU, DUSTY!
HEY TEACHERS, THEATRE EDUCATION MAJORS and GRADUATE STUDENTS! Did you know that there are scholarships available to you? Under the Scholarships and Awards tab of our website, look for the Educational Theatre Student Scholarship, the Upper Division/Graduate Student Theatre Scholarship and the Lynn Murray Continuing Education Scholarship. Many times these scholarships go untapped, so don’t miss out!
