It's Almost Time for TheatreFest!

Greetings Colleagues!

Today as I am preparing to distribute Part I of my dual credit final for Introduction to Theatre, I was suddenly struck with the thought that the end of the first semester is here!

Why I was so taken aback with that reality I don’t know. The end of the semester is always an indication that it is almost time for TheatreFest! Knowing that your incredible convention directors, committee chairs and Board of Directors have been diligently working to make sure that everything is in place and addressed for TheatreFest ’16 should have been an indication! The month of December is always our BIG month as so many of our deadlines quickly approach us. So, yes, it’s time for us to gather in Dallas at the Hyatt Regency and rejuvenate our creative juices in preparation for the spring semester.

Speaking of deadlines, December 15 is the last day to register and take advantage of the early registration fee of $120.00. After that date, the fee will go up to $170. So, register now!

I encourage you to peruse our theatre blog on our website to see all of the exciting events that will be taking place this year. Convention Director, Missey Head and Programming Director Greg Arp are putting the finishing touches on all of the incredible workshops and meetings in our preparation to “Dream Big, Make Magic and Make a Difference.”

You’ll also see the fabulous line-up of special guests that Jackie deMontmollin has booked. You will not be disappointed in the knowledge that they will share with all of us.

In the coming days, you’ll see new blogs posted by various members of TETA that will highlight different areas of interest for our membership. So check each day to see new blogs.

As exciting as reconnecting with old friends, making new friends, attending all of the sessions, performances and receptions are, it is most important that you attend our convocation and general business meeting. At the general business meeting, you will hear from Rachel Mattox, Treasurer, on the financial soundness of TETA, reports from various committee chairs and board members of course and we will elect some of our illustrious members to the offices of Secretary and At-Large Board Member 2. Like always, the nomination committee will bring names to the membership for nomination, but the floor will be opened to accept nominations from the membership. So I encourage you to let your voice be heard.

So, I close by expressing how truly indebted I am to Jerry Ivins and Missey Head who do so much for our organization. I am constantly amazed by their expertise in running our show called TheatreFest. “Thank you, Jerry and Missey. You guys rock!”

So once again, don’t forget to register for TheatreFest by next Tuesday, December 15. Save that extra $50 to pay your bar tab. Wink, Wink!

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we look forward to seeing all of you in January. Safe travels.

Honored that I can represent you,
Travis Poe, President
TETA Board of Directors
