We all ask these questions, or at least a few like these. We have years where we just don’t feel like taking the time to register ourselves and our students, to request the checks, to make the hotel reservations, meal requests, and transportation requests.
I’ve attended quite a few conventions over the years and I always dread all the paperwork my district requires. With that being said, I always come back from TheatreFest with one thought in my head...I CAN'T WAIT TO GO AGAIN NEXT YEAR!
I never fail to come away with something new. A new idea for a fundraiser, a new warm-up, a new script, a new friend, and a renewed energy and enthusiasm to attack the rest of the school year. TheatreFest is about the experience. TheatreFest is about the memories.
You can search the internet for warm-up ideas, new dance routines, stage combat for middle school students and advanced theatre arts lesson plans, but you can experience these same subjects at TheatreFest while making lasting memories with theatre educators from all over the state.

Imagine a discussion about one-act-play ideas with a group of directors who have competed at the state level. How about a workshop on how to run your own dinner theatre, presented by someone who actually runs a dinner theatre every year? Memories like that stay with you.
I don’t remember any search results from the last time I tried to find make-up ideas for a production, but I do remember a TheatreFest make-up workshop I attended years ago where I learned to create and apply a realistic beard on a high school student, and I’m sure the young lady who walked away from me looking like a ZZ Top reject remembers it too.
