Full Steam Ahead Powered by Theatre!!!

After a challenging year of ups and downs I need to recharge and what better way than to attend TETA’s SummerFest!! 

 This year SummerFest is July 15-17 at beautiful Texas State University in San Marcos. TETA’s K-12 Committee is steadily preparing and as the secretary of the K-12 Committee I wanted to write an article to help you pack for this event. Each evening after the workshops conclude we will have some optional events which are a great way to network and make new friends. Of course it’s San Marcos so regarding the evening entertainment there is a plethora of entertainment options and outdoor activities, including a beautiful river that one might want to float.

So a packing guide…I thought it might be easier to break it down into categories.

Workshops:

• We will be providing some goodies in your registration materials but you may want to bring your favorite notebook and pen if you like to keep all your notes in one place.
• Shoes for movement.
• A sweater or light jacket, the air conditioning can tend to get a bit cold.
• Your personal business cards so you can make and keep these great connections.
• Your smart phone or tablet to download the Guidebook App. TETA is going green so if you need a hard copy of the schedule please print at home before departing. Also please remember that the Guidebook will have the most up-to-date information as schedules change.
• Your computer to stay connected.
• A small bag to carry your personal items. 
• Items for your workshop presentation, if applicable.

Evening Entertainment:

• Swim suit, towels and water shoes for an impromptu river float.
• Good walking shoes if you want to hit the outlet mall.
• Clothes for hitting the town if you feel like going out.

Dorm Rooms:

• Standard twin sheets, pillow, blanket and towels for bathing
• Bath mat for when you get out of the shower
• Toilet paper (just in case)
• Toiletries, they won’t have complimentary shampoo and soap so plan accordingly.
• A shower caddy to keep all your shower stuff together.
• Deck of cards or favorite board game to play after the workshops.

Door Prizes:

• If you have extra copies of scripts, please consider bringing one to share in our SummerFest Donation Station. Everyone LOVES free scripts!
• If you have any items you want to get rid of, DON’T! Bring it to SummerFest, someone there is bound to need that unwanted item.
