Reserve Your Room for TheatreFest 2018

Hello TETA Members! 

It is time to reserve your room at the beautiful Moody Gardens for your stay at TheatreFest 2018!!  The dates of the Convention are Jan. 24th through the 27th

Again this year, the Convention will run until Saturday, not Sunday.  We plan on ending this year’s Convention at about 5 pm.  Most will drive back on Saturday night, but the TETA Board of Directors encourage you to stay Saturday night in Galveston and partake of the Moody Theme Park and the beautiful Galveston Island!  Ask your family to join you for Saturday evening and Sunday morning for some relaxation and fun.  Moody has graciously offered us the same room rate as last year, $129 plus tax!!

How many rooms are there in the TETA block at Moody?
Moody actually has 400 rooms total, and they have given them all to us!  TETA uses about 600 rooms per night on average for each Convention.  This means that Moody will sell out!!  Reserve your rooms today!  Of the 400 rooms, 151 rooms come with a single king (includes a sleeper sofa) and 249 rooms come with two queen beds (no sleeper sofa), both are the same cost.

To date, of the 400 rooms, TETA and its members have already reserved about 150 rooms, leaving only about 250 remaining. 

TETA has negotiated overflow hotels once Moody begins to fill up.  We will release this information in about a month, or sooner if Moody sells out.

What is the cost for a room?
The cost for a room at Moody is $129 per night, $140.61 with city tax.  The State tax will be waived with a tax exempt form from your school.  A credit card must be used at the time of the reservation to hold the room.  It will not be charged until the Convention.  If paying by a check, the check must be sent to Moody at least two weeks prior to the Convention.

Is there a cut-off date for changes to a reservation?
Yes!  The cut-off date for TheatreFest 2017 is Jan. 10th, 2018.  After this date, no further changes may be made to a reservation.  Note: When you register for a room, the transaction will not be complete until you electronically acknowledge and agree to TETA’s cancelation policy.  Any changes made to a reservation after Jan. 10th, 2018 that results in a reduction in room nights, the reduction will be charged to the credit card on the reservation.  No exceptions.

After the cut-off date, reservations can still be made, but the rate may go up as high as $229 per night, and no changes to the reservation can be made after it has been made.

What is the cost for parking and internet at Moody?
FREE!!  (Valet parking is $20 per night)

The Convention starts on Wednesday evening, do I need to be there?
Wednesday evening, starting at 5 pm, registration, exhibits and DesignFest will open.  We will also have many committee meetings.  Hope you can join us that evening!  Registration and regular workshops will begin Thursday morning at 7:30 am.
