High School Interest Group

If you’re a high school theatre teacher in Texas, you more than likely fall into at least one of these categories:
  1. recovering from your Fall show/musical
  2. frantically preparing for your Winter show/musical
  3. already in the throes of planning for One-Act Play
  4. purposefully avoiding planning for One-Act Play
  5. barely hanging on until Christmas Break
If you’re anything like me, you fall into at least three of those categories (I’ll let you speculate on which ones). Teaching theatre is like coaching a sport that never has an off-season—when one season ends, another one picks right up. We learn to cherish that week or two between one show closing and rehearsals for the next one starting. So whether you’re in the middle of a show, recovering from the last one, or prepping for the next one, I hope you’ll join us for a few rejuvenating days in Galveston!

For our High School teachers, there are several important things to catch at TheatreFest in January:

--Over 300 Theatre & Film-related workshops: This is the perfect opportunity to receive that specialized Professional Development we all crave and often miss out on during campus PD. Don’t miss out on the chance to learn from industry professionals and teachers like yourself!

--High School Interest Meeting: We’ll meet specifically to discuss the issues that matter to you and how TETA can best meet your needs. Also, come find out how you can become more involved in TETA!

--High School Histrionics: Whether you have a fool-proof lesson plan that you think every theatre teacher needs or you’re desperately looking for help in planning, we need you at HS Histrionics! This time of sharing lesson plans and helping fellow teachers is great for new teachers, veteran teachers, and everyone in between!

Wherever you are in the rehearsal/show/recovery cycle, make plans now to attend TheatreFest…a few days at the beach is just what you need!
