The mission of TETA shall be to support, promote and expand educational theatre at all levels by providing the following: 1. Quality educational opportunities; 2. A network for resources, support, and expansion; 3. An advocacy base; and 4. A forum for establishing standards, programs, and projects in order to celebrate the importance of the theatre in the human experience.

Agenda

I.          CALL TO ORDER – President Kelly Russell
Russell called the meeting to order at 9:05.

II.        MINUTES OF LAST BUSINESS MEETING – Secretary, Nancy Jo Humfeld
Humfeld moved acceptance of the minutes from the 2010 Business Meeting.  They were seconded and approved.

III.        PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Kelly Russell
Russell stated that there are three names in nomination for Board positions that
would require a vote later in the agenda.  These are:  College/University Member at Large, Don Luna, President-Elect, Jackie deMontmollin, and President, Melissa McMillian-Cunningham.

IV.       PAST PRESIDENT’S REPORT – David Stevens
Stevens reported that work is ongoing updating the Manual of Operations.

V.        TREASURER’S REPORT – Gene Dickey
Dickey provided a very interesting, informative, and humorous power point which detailed TETA’s net gain from last year. 

VI.       K-12 VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Gloria McLuckie
McLuckie announced the K-12 interest meeting at noon on Saturday and the
K-12 business meeting at 3:00 on Saturday.  This summer’s SummerFest will be
July 15-17 at Baylor University in Waco – all interested persons are encouraged to attend the summer planning meeting.

VII.      CU VICE-PRESIDENT’S REPORT – Carrie Klypchak
Klypchak encouraged C/U members to attend the C/U interest meeting today at 3:00 after which will be the Scholars Debut Papers presentation at 4:30.  She further thanked John Hanners for his wonderful work on the Texas Theatre Journal.  College/University members may obtain a copy at the Registration Desk or the CAPS table.

VIII.     CAPS CHAIR REPORT – Bradley Nies
Nies announced that work is being done to reinstate some schools to Institutional Membership.  There are also seven new Institutional Members who will be recognized at the end of the business meeting.

IX.       COMMUNICATION’S CHAIR REPORT – Mike Doggett
Doggett mentioned that the Texas Theatre Notes is now totally online and has been viewed by thousands of people in 152 different countries.  He called for submissions to the TTN and mentioned that ad spaces are available.  There will be four issues this year, as the May issue is being reinstated.  The deadline for the March issue is February 13.  The advertising costs have more than covered the cost of production.  Doggett further mentioned that the new Job Board on the website has been a big success.

X.        CURRICULUM CHAIR’S REPORT – Laura Haygood
Haygood announced that the Curriculum Committee is working on an end-of-course exam.  There will be a Curriculum Committee meeting tonight at 4:30 for those who would like to help with Curriculum issues.

XI.       MEMBERSHIP CHAIR’S REPORT – Lance Morse
Morse reported that members can contact him for information regarding membership.

XII.      UIL REPORT – Luis Munoz
Munoz reported that there is record enrollment in UIL this year with 1216 schools enrolled in UIL.   He also encouraged directors to attend the UIL open forum which will be at 3:00 this afternoon.

XIII.     NEW BUSINESS
A.  Election of new officers – Melissa McMillian-Cunningham for President, Don
Luna for the CU Member at Large, and Jackie deMontmollin for President-Elect. 
All were approved.

B. Recognition of outgoing board members – Stan Denman, CU Member at Large and David Stevens for six years as President Elect, President, and Past President.

C. New Institutional Member Recognition –.Seven schools were recognized and received plaques and certificates.  They were:
Center Point High School, Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School, East Texas Baptist University, Hargrove High School, Hempstead High School, Lindale High School, and Seven Lakes High School,

XIV.     ADJOURN – 9:20
