Educator of the Year Awards

Creative, loving, effective, inspiring…do these sound like the qualities of a teacher you know? Of course they do because Texas theatre educators are amazing!

However, the countless hours and unending devotion that these wonderful gurus provide to their students and their programs are often underappreciated and taken for granted.

But, don’t despair! We have a way to show our appreciation; TETA recognizes two K-12 Educators of the Year: one for K-8 and one for secondary. The winners are recognized and honored during the Awards Banquet at TheatreFest. Each of us is probably acquainted with several outstanding theatre teachers who possess these and many other admirable traits, so let’s get them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for a TETA award.

As clichĂ© as it may sound, just being nominated is a great honor because it lets the nominated teacher know that their hard work and commitment to quality theatre education has not gone unnoticed. In the past the process of nominating an educator may have seemed daunting and extremely time consuming, but the nomination process has been greatly simplified and streamlined. Just click the “Awards Nomination Form” link under the “Awards & Scholarships” tab on the TETA website and follow the instructions there. If you have questions or need help with the process, feel free to contact any K-12 Committee member. The deadline for nominations is September 1st, so nominate an awesome teacher for one of the K-12 Educator of the Year Awards today!
